- Sing "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" (Children's Songbook, 228).
- Read aloud: "He set the mountains in their place" — talk about Psalm 65:6.
- Ask: What is the biggest mountain you have ever seen?
- Say a short prayer thanking Heavenly Father for the beautiful earth.
Little ones: do the actions to the song and fold arms for the prayer.
Volcano JumpsExercise · 10 min
- Crouch down small like a quiet volcano.
- Count to three, then ERUPT — jump as high as you can! Repeat 5 times.
- March around the room like slow-moving lava.
Little ones: toddlers love this one as-is — keep the lava marching slow.
Baking Soda VolcanoTheme Project · 25 min
- Build a play dough mountain around a small cup on the tray.
- Spoon in baking soda, add a few drops of red food coloring.
- Count down from 5, pour in vinegar — eruption!
- Talk about how real volcanoes push melted rock up from inside the earth.
Little ones: help pour with hand-over-hand — expect to repeat the eruption several times!

What is Little Lights?
Little Lights is a free manual homeschool planner with an optional AI subscription. For AI planning, describe your family's weekly schedule once — how many school days, how long, and which blocks you want (devotional, reading, math, theme projects, read-alouds) — then it writes complete, open-and-go lesson plans one themed week at a time.
How much prep time do the lesson plans need?
Essentially none. Every activity is scripted in 3–6 numbered steps written to be read cold, and each week comes with one consolidated supply list of common household items. Gather the supplies once, then just open each day and teach.
What ages is Little Lights for?
Little Lights is built around one primary learner at a kindergarten level, and every activity includes a "Little ones" line showing how toddler and preschool siblings can join in — so the whole family can participate without extra planning.
What teaching style are the lessons?
Warm and gentle. Language arts lessons are literature-rich with short phonics bursts, in the spirit of family favorites like The Good and the Beautiful. Math is conversational and hands-on using everyday objects, similar in feel to Math With Confidence. Reading and math build sequentially from week to week like a real curriculum.
Does Little Lights include religious content?
Little Lights can open each day with a short Christ-centered devotional drawn from Come, Follow Me and the Children's Songbook, simplified to a young child's level. Choose whether to include a devotional during setup, and change that choice anytime in Settings.
What if I'm not creative with themes?
With an AI subscription, choose "Suggest a theme for us" and Little Lights pitches you a complete themed unit — title, description, and week-by-week plan. Use it as-is, roll for a different idea, or tweak it with one sentence until it feels right.
How much does it cost?
Manual planning, editing, teaching history, and printing are free without a card. Optional AI generation, revisions, and suggestions cost $8.90 per month after a 14-day trial with a card required. Cancel anytime; keep using your saved plans and manual planning for free.
Can I print the lesson plans?
Yes. Every day has a one-click printable day sheet — a clean, paper-friendly script of the whole day for screen-free teaching.
