Little Lights
Privacy Policy
Little Lights is a planning service for parents and guardians. This policy explains the information we use to provide personalized homeschool plans and operate the service.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, sign-in records, subscription status, and access-code history.
- Planning information: learner first names and ages, schedule preferences, unit topics, generated lesson plans, edits, and completion history.
- Billing information: Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and billing status. Stripe handles payment-card details; Little Lights does not store full card numbers.
- AI usage information: the task, selected model and reasoning effort, token counts, estimated cost, request status, and latency. These usage records do not contain prompts, generated responses, or learner names.
- Technical information: essential session cookies and security or operational logs needed to run and protect the service.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate accounts, personalize and save lesson plans, process subscriptions, answer support requests, monitor reliability and costs, prevent abuse, and improve Little Lights.
AI processing
AI assistance is optional. Before your first AI request, we ask for your permission to send relevant planning details to OpenAI. These can include learner first names and ages, schedules, topics, lesson content, learning history, and instructions you enter. OpenAI uses these details to generate suggestions, plans, and revisions. Do not enter sensitive personal information that is not needed for a lesson plan.
We save your choice with your account. You can decline and continue manual planning, editing, teaching, and printing for free. You can withdraw permission under Account → AI privacy choices. This stops future AI requests; requests already sent may finish. Withdrawing permission does not delete saved plans or cancel an AI subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate Little Lights, including Cloudflare for hosting and data storage, OpenAI for plan generation, Stripe for billing, and Brevo for sign-in email delivery. They process information for the services they provide to us.
Children's information
Little Lights is intended for use by adults, not by children independently. A parent or guardian may enter a child's first name, age, and learning context to personalize plans. Please do not allow a child to create an account or submit personal information directly.
Cookies
Little Lights uses an essential secure session cookie to keep you signed in. A second non-secret presence cookie lets the public website display “My account” instead of “Log in.” The two cookies are refreshed and cleared together. We do not currently use advertising cookies.
Retention, access, and deletion
We keep account and planning information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. In the app, Account → Delete account lets you delete your account after typing DELETE to confirm. This cancels any Stripe subscription, deletes your family's app records and active sessions, and clears that account's drafts on the device where you delete it. Drafts on other devices are not remotely erased. Stripe may retain transaction records for legal and accounting purposes. Deleting your account does not recall information already processed by service providers; their applicable retention requirements may continue.

Sharing and sale
We do not sell personal information. We share information with the service providers described above, when you direct us to, or when reasonably required to comply with law or protect users and the service.
Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as Little Lights changes; the effective date above will show the latest revision.
